Fun at the Club–18th March 2011
Friday nite fun club returns this Friday with ‘BINGO!’.
For younger members and those that are young at heart,
Eyes down at 7:30pm.
Keep track of all that’s happening on the Freuchie Cricket Club Facebook page.
An Investment in Freuchie
A fund given to Freuchie by Campion Homes has helped us to buy a replacement outfield mower. Our new workhorse arrived this morning, on a rain soaked day more suited to ducks than the cutting of grass.

Administered by Freuchie Community Council, the money is intended to be used for the benefit of the whole village, and this mower does just that. The park is one of Freuchie’s major assets and is used by the whole village, but not everyone realises that the Cricket Club provides all the effort to keep it clean and to cut the grass, as well as paying for all associated costs – including rates. We are grateful to Campion Homes and Freuchie Community Council for this contribution to the heavy costs of maintaining the park. Our staff photographer was on the spot to see the new mower arriving and the old one going away (to the big outfield in the sky?)

Tour de Freuchie 2011
This event will take place on 2nd April, with the “Off” around 12.00. Sponsored by The Leslie Bike Shop, each member of a team of four riders cycles a route of approximately four miles;as one member gets ‘home,’ the next sets off until everyone has cycled two laps.
Each team comprises one girl and three boys (maybe using these terms loosely – upper age limited only by personal bravery) and the purpose of the day is to raise funds and have fun. Pies, soup and other liquid sustenance available throughout the day, with a disco at night to round things off.
The route goes south from the clubhouse, round the park, down King Street, west along the main road to Newton of Falkland, right on to the Lathrisk road, right again at the road back into Freuchie, up past the Albert Tavern (no time for a pint on this occasion, but see the Courier’s review at http://www.thecourier.co.uk/News/Fife/article/1781/albert-tavern-named-best-pub-in-fife.html) then up the hill and back to the club. In two previous years, best times were just over an hour and three quarters – 1:50:26 and 1:48:52 respectively. Lap record is 12 minutes 16 seconds, so now you know what to beat. Just getting round two laps is plenty for some of us!
At the time of writing (afternoon of Sunday 6th March) we have about ten teams entered, so there is room for two or three more – we would welcome entries for other clubs. For more details and an entry form, phone Dave McIntosh on 07596 759 801
