Village Cup 17th July
With the scheduled home tie against Houghton Main rained off on 10th July, our troops travelled south to Houghton Main’s ground on Sunday past. Convincing win for the lads – Freuchie 193 for 6 in 40 overs, Houghton Main all out for 73 in 25 and a bit overs.
Batting stars for us were Alan Wallace with 56 runs off 98 balls, Robbie Birrell with 54 off 76, Scott Gourlay with 23 off 21 and Coo with 17 off 15.
In the home innings, Dale took 4 for 24, Gour 2 for 9, Scottie Birrell 3 for 12 and Coo 1 for 27. Only four bowlers were used.
So – weather permitting – we have Sessay Cricket Club at home this weekend in the quarter finals. That promises to be a tougher test. ‘Formidable’ might be a better word – Sessay won the Village Cup last year!

Weekend Washout
Not much cricket for Freuchie at the weekend just past – Ferguslie at home rained off, Westquarter and Redding didn’t happen, Sunday’s Village Cup game against Houghton Main started but had to be abandoned – rain, rain and more rain. However, Dave McIntosh is trying to fill a bus to go to Houghton Main this Sunday – call Dave on 07596 759 801 to get your ticket.
Don’t miss out on Dave Christie’s junior coaching sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout this month – call Dave on 07745 390 639 if you’re not sure what’s on when.
Fife Cup Final (Falkland against Dunfermline) will be at Freuchie Park on Thursday evening – weather permitting. Right now, weather promises to be OK. Come along to see some good cricket and our excellent facilities and clubhouse.
