    About

One hundred years old in 2008, Freuchie Cricket Club has always been a typical village cricket club, a real focal point in the life of our village. We are unashamedly proud of our achievements in recent years, whether on the pitch, in the community or through our youth development programme.

Our Senior teams compete in SNCL Division II and ESCA Division II, in the Scottish Cup and in various local tournaments. We welcome overseas players and have benefited greatly from their services in recent years, but our successes have just as much to do with our excellent stock of “home-grown” talent. Of course, we’re always looking to strengthen our playing pool and welcome anyone interested in playing for one of Fife’s top teams. We have a great history in the Village Cup (winners at Lord’s in 1985 and regular winners of the Scottish section), but if our present plans to field a pro in 2009 come to fruition, we will not be participating in that one for a while. Visit our Fixtures page to see who we’ll be playing where in the coming months (and our Results page to see what happened!)

We are very conscious that the future of our club relies on the involvement and development of our Juniors, and our participation in Cricket Scotland’s TopClub programme is an important part of this. We are presently at Bronze Level and and keen to achieve Silver Level. Competing in Under 13s and Under 15s Scottish Cups and in the Fife League, our Juniors are now so successful that young people travel from all over Fife to train and play for us, and we welcome inquiries from young people who would like to come along, have fun and improve their cricket playing ability. Just come to the park on a Friday evening.

Cricket Scotland’s consultative review of the game guides clubs towards investing all they can in playing facilities rather than in employing high-powered professional match-winners. While this is in fact just what we have been doing with our all-amateur teams for many years, and is the essence of how we aim to operate in the years to come, we recognise the need for top-level coaching for our youngsters and this is why we aim to have a pro in 2009, building on the development of our own young players and of our playing facilities.

Membership is open to all and our members enjoy excellent social facilities, with a wide range of events for all ages throughout the year, our attractive and well-stocked bar where you can watch the cricket, and our comfortable lounge / function room. The lounge is great for parties, dances, meetings and seminars, and is backed up by a well-appointed kitchen. Membership charges are modest and can be seen on our Constitution.

A vital element in our Club’s operation is the support of our many sponsors and patrons and the excellent relations we enjoy with them, and we offer our grateful thanks to them. Our annual Sponsors’ Day is little more than a token of our gratitude to them, but it’s a great day nonetheless, enjoyed by all. Please visit our sponsors section and consider the businesses of the companies listed there – by supporting them, you will be supporting us.

A recent addition to Freuchie Cricket Club is our website and blog. Within the website, links to history, Junior, facilities, player profiles etc.
